What are the project limits?
The project limits extend approximately 32 miles along US 27 from SR 60 to US 192 at the Polk/Lake County line, although the study area extends east and west from US 27 as shown on the project location map.

Aren’t other agencies already studying US 27?
FDOT’s Central Office conducted a Regional US 27 Corridor Study from Miami-Dade County to the US 27/Turnpike interchange in Lake County, and it is considered an umbrella study that examines the corridor from a statewide and regional perspective.

What types of improvements are being considered?
The study will consider a variety of improvements and multimodal strategies which may include widening, evaluating managed or express lanes, intersections improvements, enhanced transit services and facilities, transportation management and operations (TSMO) improvements, connection to regional roadways or improvements to existing nearby facilities reducing trips along US 27.

When is this study expected to be completed?
The NE Polk US 27 Mobility Study is expected to be completed in May of 2021.

How can I be involved in the study?
Members of the public can be involved by monitoring the study’s progress on this website. Project documents, maps, and other study related materials will be posted on the Documents & Publications page. Once improvements have been developed, recommendations will be presented to the Polk Transportation Planning Organization and local governments within the study area, including the Polk County Board of County Commissioners and the local municipal councils.  Members of the public who would like to be contacted about this project can provide their email addresses on the Get Involved page.

Are there going to be any improvements to US 27 before this study’s completion?
Although the study is expected to take three years, short term or interim improvement projects will be identified and recommended for implementation before the study’s completion.  For additional projects along US 27, visit SWFLRoads.com.
